UK alcohol wholesaler Conviviality Plc has appointed a new managing director for its retail division.
David Robinson (pictured right) joins from Argos where he was chief operating officer, having worked in retail for over 20 years. He previously worked for companies including Dixons, and Homebase where he was appointed commercial director in 2009.
While his appointment as MD was originally announced in January, he only started in the role last month, and has now joined the company's board too.
Conviviality chairman David Adams said: 'I am delighted to welcome David to our board as managing director of Conviviality Retail. During his time with Argos, David was instrumental in the implementation of its strategic, operational and financial transformational plan and we look forward to benefiting from his significant retail experience.'
Conviviality Retail owns the UK’s largest franchised off-licence and convenience chains, with over 600 stores, including those operated under the Bargain Booze and Wine Rack brands. The company reported revenue growth of 137% to £864.5m earlier this month in its first final full-year results following its £200m purchase of Matthew Clark in October of last year. It also acquired leading wine and spirits company Bibendum PLB for £60m in May.
