Of course, the main event of the Copa is still the competition – and this one promises to be the most exciting yet. Finalists from Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, United States, Holland and the United Kingdom will face off in food and wine pairing challenges to win the prestigious Copa, all in front of an international audience of chefs, sommeliers and other hospitality professionals.

Sommelier Alan Bednarski and chef Karl O'Dell of London restaurant Texture will represent the UK at the final.

The menu that crowned them finalists included a starter of scallops, avocado, cucumber and wasabi matched with Fino Tio Pepe En Rama from González Byass, a main dish of pigeon, turnip, blackberry and sherry jus paired with Bodegas Tradición Palo Cortado Tradición VORS and a fruit dessert made with baby pear, raisins, sponge and Isey Skyr with La Cigarrera Moscatel.
