Cottons to open two new restaurants

Caribbean restaurant brand Cottons has announced two new London openings, with sites planned for Shoreditch and Vauxhall.

The new Curtain Road site will open in May, with the Vauxhall restaurant opening at St George’s Wharf in June.

The 4,235 sq ft Vauxhall site will feature an large restaurant plus large outdoor terrace overlooking the Thames, while the new Curtain Road restaurant will have space for just 60 diners. Both sites will feature their own rum shacks and extensive rum collections.

The brand’s current east London site at Shoreditch Boxpark will close at the end of April. Cottons restaurant and Salon de Rum in Notting Hill opened in 2016 and currently holds the Guinness World Record for the bar with the highest number of rum commercially available at 372 varieties.

The brand was founded in 1985 with its first site located in Camden. It is privately owned by restaurateur Chris Singam.

Singam said: 'We look forward to bringing the Caribbean sunshine more permanently to Shoreditch and for the first time, to south London.'
