Diageo announces Special Releases Collection

16 August 2017

It’s four months from Christmas and every whisky geek knows what that means: it’s time for Diageo to unveil its Special Releases Collection.

Whiskies in the range retail anywhere from £90 for the Lagavulin 12yo to £2, 625 for the Port Ellen 37yo. Four originate from closed distilleries.

'The Special Releases range is always a highlight in our calendar year, it reflects the truly extraordinary range of stocks our blenders have available to them,’ Dr Nick Morgan, Diageo’s head of whisky outreach, said.

The Collectivum XXVIII is the tenth bottle to make up the collection and the fourth non-age statement malt in this series to date.

‘The variety and quality of whiskies in the collection is simply impeccable. We’re looking forward to sharing this year’s collection with the world and in particular keen to see the response to the new Collectivum XXVIII.’

The oldest whisky to be released is a 52yo from the Port Dundas Distillery, the oldest it’s released. Glen Elgin 18yo makes a return to the range.

Each whisky in the 2017 Special Releases range is a limited edition, rare bottling.
