Distillation started today in Armagnac, around two weeks earlier than usual.

Good weather in spring and a very hot July, followed by favourable amounts of rain in August means the grapes matured well, with harvest starting two weeks earlier than usual. Armagnac bureau oenologist Marie-Claude Ségur said such an early start of distillation is very rare in the region.

Producers also said they're expecting a really good vintage, fruity and rich, as the harvest was of good quality.
