Has your liver finally recovered from London Cocktail Week? Excellent. Let’s head to Edinburgh and fix that.
Following the success of last year’s first-ever Edinburgh Cocktail Weekend, the city is stepping up its game with seven whole days of festivities and 83 bars taking part. Edinburgh Cocktail Week (ECW) runs from 15 to 21 October, and there’s plenty for the trade to get involved in (beyond, you know, running the thing).
Be sure to register for your trade pass for access to the Cocktail Village and £4 drinks at participating bars – then check out these events, pop-ups and parties at Edinburgh Cocktail Week.
When? 15-21 October
Where? Festival Square, Lothian Rd
What? As the hub of ECW, the Cocktail Village brings together a variety of brands, each hosting their own pop-up bar slinging £4 cocktails. Expect tipples from Belvedere Vodka, Porter’s Gin, Johnnie Walker, Rumbullion! Rum, Edinburgh Gin and more.
The Village will also play host to live music and DJs, so grab a drink and dance off some steam after your shift.
When? Monday 15 October, 10pm-3am
Where? 4042, 40-42 Grindlay St, EH3 9AP
What? Head to 4042 and flash your wristband for free entry to Absolut’s Porn Star Martini party – the ideal way to celebrate a night off at the beginning of ECW and prepare your liver for what’s to come. This one’s first come, first served, so plan accordingly.
The Voodoo Rooms Nocturnal Animals Takeover
When? 16 October, 8-11pm
Where? The Voodoo Rooms, 19a West Register St, EH2 2AA
What? In celebration of the forthcoming opening of Nocturnal Animals, the much-anticipated Birmingham restaurant and bar from chef Alex Claridge and bartender James Bowker of The Wilderness, the Nocturnal Animals' bar team is going on tour. Luckily for you, one of their stops is The Voodoo Rooms. At the one-night-only takeover, Nocturnal Animals will be serving up '80s-inspired drinks with bright colours and big flavours, using high-end cooking techniques. It’s one that’s not to be missed.
When? Thursday 18 October, 8pm-1am
Where? Tonic, 34A N Castle St, EH2 3BN
What? This slumber-party-themed bash sees Tonic bar shaking up a variety of cocktails using Altos Tequila, with tunes provided by DJ Stefan Peterson. Why not head over for a Nightcap (that’s Altos, white chocolate liqueur, Horlicks syrup, milk, chocolate bitters and Malteasers) to unwind? Entry is free, pyjamas are encouraged and, apparently, teddies are provided.
