Electronic music label releases Rum & Techno bottling

11 December 2015

Rum and techno – what’s not to like? Glasgow-based electronic music label Soma Records has branched out into the world of drink, releasing a limited edition bottling of rare 18yo Single Cask Caroni Rum.

The team settled on this rare spirit from the former Trinidadian distillery after trying a number of other contenders. ‘We also tried some single-cask 65% abv, but thought that might have been a little too much!’ MD Glenn Gibbons explained. ‘We know a lot of techno lovers, and people who work for us, that also love a good quality rum. The correlation between the two seemed like a natural thing. We often have a bottle of rum sitting in the office to crack open to celebrate a big release, to get the party going, or to have a nip before venturing out to a club.'

Only 200 hand-numbered bottles of Rum & Techno were released, but there are plans to follow it with a limited-edition gin this summer (G ‘n’ T ‘n’ Techno, anyone?), followed by a single malt whisky in the winter to celebrate the label’s 25th anniversary.
