Final call bartenders! Diageo Reserve hunts for World Class Bartender of the Year

01 February 2017

With just two weeks remaining to enter one of the most well-known bartenders competitions in the world, Diageo Reserve is calling on bartenders to get involved.

Tying in with the theme of its Future Series trend report, this year's competition has a focus on 'future thinking', where bartenders are challenged to submit a cocktail that demonstrates creative and forward thinking, selecting two trends that their cocktail embodies from a list of choice, emotion, high-tech, into the unknown and sustainability.

The requirements are to imagine the future, creating a cocktail using at least 30ml of base spirit from the Diageo Reserve brands. The collection includes spirits such as Bulleit Bourbon, Zacapa 23, Talisker Skye, Don Julio Reposado, Tanqueray No. Ten and Ketel One.

Along with the title of Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender of the Year, the winning bartender will receive: access to the European World Class boot camp following the GB final, business class flights to Mexico for the global final, a trip to Don Julio, a trip to Schiedam to the Ketel One Vodka distillery, a bespoke whisky trip to Scotland, a £500 voucher for a personalised Cocktail Kingdom kit, Caracalla World Class bespoke bartender hand luggage – worth over £1,000 – and a professional signature serve and profile photoshoot with a top industry photographer.

Think you can do better than last year's global victor Jennifer Le Nechet? If you haven't already entered, make sure to pick up the pace as entries close 15 February. All entries are reviewed, and judged in the bar, before the top 50 bartenders are announced. These will then battle it out for a place in the final line up of ten.
