Draught Drop offers growlers of fresh draught beer from craft breweries in east London
Craft beer on tap is something we were expecting to have to give up in England this month, but a new start up plans to remedy that.
The new beer subscription club, Draught Drop, offers growlers of fresh draught beer from craft breweries in east London, direct to the doorsteps of residents in the area. Walthamstow-based husband and wife team Mellanie and Tom Struthers have set up the club to support local breweries.
Thought to be the country’s first growler subscription club, it focuses on beers from Waltham Forest and Hackney’s best breweries, with a different beer on tap every week. These are sourced from 16 craft breweries, such as East London Brewing Co, Neckstamper Brewing, Hackney Church Brew Co, and many more. These are delivered in emission-free reusable growlers.
‘We’re passionate about three things at Draught Drop: great quality craft beer, supporting our local community and protecting the environment. That’s why we only sell fresh beer on draught, and source it from local independent breweries that produce high quality beer,’ said co-founder Mellanie Struthers. ‘Our growlers are filled straight from kegs, both of which are completely reusable and all our beer is delivered emission free on electric bikes.’
Co-founder Tom Struthers added: ‘We wanted to enjoy pub quality beer from home and sample the full range of craft beers on offer across Waltham Forest.’
The service works much like local milk deliveries, with subscribers switching their empty growlers for a filled one each Friday evening, in time for the weekend. London postcodes currently covered by Draught Drop are E2, E5, E8, E9, E10, E11, E17 and N16.
