Funkin launches citric syrup

This one's a handy bottle for backbars round the country: Funkin's just expanded its small-batch syrup range with a citric syrup.

Launched following demand from the Be At One group that had been struggling to find a consistent citric solution to use across their sites, Funkin says it's inspired by old-school pick 'n' mix and retro flavours. It's got a definitely sharp tart taste, so needs to be used carefully, but can add extra dimension to drinks – it worked well in a simple Gin Fizz served at The Cocktail Trading Co for the Funkin Innovation Champion final.

Funkin managing director Andrew King said: 'We are excited to see how the newest syrup in the range can be used in a variety of cocktails in addition to an array of classic sherbet drinks.'

He added: 'FunkinPro Citric Syrup offers our customers a consistent solution for serving this innovative ingredient to guarantee a great tasting cocktail each and every time.'

The syrups are available by case of six, and have a two year shelf life.
