Gautier Cognac launches in the UK

One of the oldest cognac houses out there, Gautier’s taken its sweet time to join the UK brandy landscape.

Next month three of its expressions make their debut over here. All benefit from Gautier’s particular cellars, situated in an old watermill over the Osme river in Cognac, which produces a humid environment that adds a roundness and mellow note to the spirits.

While Gautier's based in the Fine Bois cru, eaux-de-vie from all over Cognac are used in the blends by cellar master Isabelle Couprie. The VS and VSOP are both aged about two years over the required time, and the XO Gold & Blue stands at a minimum of 10 years.

Gary Squire, managing director of Catalyst Brands, who is importing Gautier in the UK, said: 'The addition of Gautier Cognac to the Catalyst portfolio is fantastic news. Having just won the award for "World’s Best Cognac" [at the 2015 World Cognac Awards] we couldn't be happier to expand our range with such a quality product which is renowned worldwide. The quality of Gautier is a level which will be thoroughly enjoyed across the UK, especially as the festive season approaches.'
