This September, Cocktails in the City will be bringing the London bar community together while raising money for The Drinks Trust, with Imbibe as trade media partner
The two-day event, taking place on Friday 11 and Saturday 12 September in Bedford Square Gardens, will feature drinks from over 30 leading London bars, including Callooh Callay, 68 & Boston, Nightjar, Trailer Happiness, Heads + Tails, Laki Kane, London Cocktail Club, Demon, Wise & Partners, Cahoots, The Hide Bar and Mr Fogg’s. There will also be live music, mainstage demos and tasting sessions.
Imbibe is pleased announce that it is the official trade media partner for Cocktails in the City: Community Spirit Edition. This summer, we released our Community Edition print magazine, celebrating the people in our industry as it goes through its biggest challenge in decades.
This year's Community Spirit campaign represents the industry coming together to raise money for worthy causes, and was originally developed by Sophie Bratt and Sly Augustin to raise money after the Grenfell Tower tragedy. The campaign will shine a light on people and organisation which have supported their community through Covid-19, and highlight how the industry has adapted and reinvented itself during lockdown.
The afternoon of Friday 11 September (12pm-4pm) will be an industry-specific session, in media partnership with Imbibe. Tickets will be £5, and drinks will cost £7.50, with all proceeds going to The Drinks Trust, and there will be trade-specific talks and experiences, alongside the chance to reconnect with industry friends.
The rest of the event will be open to everyone. On arrival, guests will be greeted with a cocktail sorbet from The Coral Room in collaboration with Italicus. Once inside, bars will be serving cocktails ranging from sustainable serves, to no- and low-abv drinks, Champagne cocktails, and more. The UK Bartenders Guild will also be hosting a bar at the event, while The London Bartenders Association (LBA) in partnership with Feed The Conversation campaign will provide a space to discuss how we can improve hospitality going forwards.
'Boasting nearly two acres of widen-open space, Bedford Square Gardens is the perfect place to bring people together in a safe and socially distanced environment,' said the organiser Andrew Scutts. 'It is a unique opportunity to rediscover the venues that have been forced to close for so long, take part in a series of interactive experiences and enjoy great drinks with friends whilst raising money for a worthy cause.'
Ross Carter, CEO of The Drinks Trust said of the event: 'Recent events have resulted in unprecedented levels of demand for the services that The Drinks Trust provides, so we welcome this innovative fundraising event. It's a unique opportunity to bring people together in a wide-open air environment to share their recent experiences, create great drinks and showcase the unity of this great industry to a wider audience.'
A number of supporting brands have already been confirmed for the event, including Moët & Chandon, Belvedere Vodka, The London Essence Company, Campari, Hennessy, Yellowstone Select Whiskey, Everleaf, Glenmorangie, Jägermeister, Stoli, Luxardo, Brockmans Gin, Bumbu Rum, Ardbeg and Italicus.
