Campari's La Dolce Vita Gin O'ndina

With Negronis and apéritifs so strongly associated with the Campari brand, we weren't that surprised when it announced the launch of a new 'super-premium' gin.

Inspired by the glamour of old-school Italy, Gin O'ndina is a small-batch Italian gin, made using Mediterranean botanicals and fresh basil. The launch cements Campari's interest in entering the premium-gin market, following its acquisition of Bulldog gin last year.

Gin O'ndina is said to be refreshing and herbaceous, made with 19 Italian botanicals including basil from Liguria, and citrus from sothern Italy, giving drinkers here in gloomy GB a taste of La Dolce Vita.

Signature serves include the O’ndina Gin & Tonic, with Fever Tree Mediterranean tonic and a basil leaf garnish, Negroni or neat over ice.

Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla

When life gives you oranges, make orange gin? Well, that certanly seems to be the case, with another release of orange gin, this time from Tanqueray with its Flor de Sevilla.

Perfect for summer serves, Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla is made with, you guessed it, Seville oranges, reminiscent of Charles Tanqueray's original 1830s recipe where he used Spanish citrus.

We're again yet to try it, but it's described by Tanqueray as having a tangy, sweet profile, tangerine notes and hints of juniper and coriander. The gin is amber in colour, giving the on-trade the opportunity to enhance their classic G&Ts, serving Flor de Sevilla with a slice of Seville orange garnish. While the sound of it in a G&T is great and all, we'd love to taste it in a Negroni.

Kamm & Sons Mr Kamm's Gin

Bartender favourite Kamm & Sons has gone all experimental, adding Mr Kamm's Gin to its teeny tiny portfolio.

Taking bottle inspiration from its aperitif big brother, Mr Kamm's Gin is a classic London dry, created using a blend of 45 ingredients including gingseng, apricot kernel, hibiscus, rosehip, blue butterfly pea and citra hops, resulting in a soft, complex gin with a very dry finish.

Fruits, flowers, nuts, berries, barks, roots, citrus peels, seeds, berries, herbs, spices and of course, a lot of juniper, are all inlcluded in the blend. Making Mr Kamm's the perfect gin for herbaceous cocktails and serves.

Rumour has it, the gin's recipe took founder Alex Kammerling two years and over 180 distillations to perfect, originally created at the bottom of Kammerling's garden in Finsbury Park. But things have moved on, with the distillation now taking place at then end of his parents' garden in Surrey.

Mr Kamm's Gin is made using the lesser-used one-shot distillation technique, resulting in a deeper flavour. Unfortunately, this limits the yield to a maximum of 80 bottles per day.
