Bordeaux fans can rejoice, as Vins de Bordeaux is bringing a pop-up wine bar to Broadgate this summer, and its arrival is just around the corner.
The Bordeaux Butterfly Bar will run from Monday 12 to Friday 16 June at Finsbury Avenue Square near Liverpool Street. But the brand’s first pop-up is not aimed at experienced quaffers – it’s looking to recruit newer, younger customers and ensure their loyalty.
This has been designed as a place to discover Bordeaux in a relaxed setting, and with 36 wines in total to try over the course of five days, it promises to showcase versatility and variety.
'We are very excited to be opening Bordeaux’s very first pop-up bar in London this summer,' says François Jumeau, Marketing Director, CIVB (Bordeaux Wine Council). 'It’s a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase and celebrate the diversity and affordability of Bordeaux wines to a young professional crowd who might not automatically choose Bordeaux.'
There’ll be 14 different wines featured on the list each day, with eight fixed for the duration, and another 28 on rotation. Wines will be priced at £5 and £6 per glass, £20 and £24 per carafe and wine flights will cost £6. In addition, two wines of the day will be available to sample each day in the Bordeaux Tasting Zone.
Experts will be on hand to help visitors identify the best Bordeaux style for them, and each day at 1pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6pm, there will be a 15-minute speed tasting led by experts, costing £5, with five wines available to try including a dry white, a rosé, a crémant and two reds.
For customers feeling peckish, street food is being served up on the site by Claw, Yolk, Wolf, Hop and Baba G’s Bhangra Burgers. Our stomachs are rumbling already.
There will even be a boules piste where customers can try their hand at lawn bowling’s French cousin.
