Glen Moray moves distribution back to Glen Turner

07 February 2017

Bringing its distribution closer to home, Glen Moray Single Malt Whisky has moved from Marblehead to Glen Turner, after two and a half successful years.

Moving the brand in-house from the spirits brand developer, Glen Turner aims to have more direct contact with its key customers and bring the on-trade distribution back in line with the off-trade.

Speaking to Imbibe, David Borthwick, UK sales director at Glen Turner, revealed the reasons behind moving distribution back to Glen Turner: 'Our total UK business has developed significantly across all channels, particularly in the off trade, allowing us to expand the commercial team at Glen Turner,' he said.

'Managing both on and off trade channels directly allows us to be closer to our customers and react quickly to individual customer needs. We have ambitious plans and are confident of the further growth of our flagship brand in the UK.'

Discussing the plans for the future, Borthwick told Imbibe: '2017 is a big year for Glen Moray as we celebrate our 120th anniversary. As part of the La Martiniquaise Group we also have plans to look to the wider portfolio to unlock the potential of brands such as St James Agricole Rum and Porto Cruz.

'Both brands are global brand leaders in their respective categories. Clearly the UK is a mature, challenging market, however, we feel the time is correct for consumers to discover the amazing qualities,  heritage, and provenance that the wider La Martiniquaise Group portfolio can offer.'

The distillery will release its Elgin Heritage Range in April 2017.
