Winter is coming – and not just for Game of Thrones fans. We can’t believe we’re talking about it either, but the festive season is almost upon us – and that means bubbles.
Which is why Champagne Gosset is well-timed in launching it’s new Blanc de Noirs in the UK, along with its new-look Blanc de Blancs.
The new arrival – Grand Blanc de Noirs – is 100% Pinot Noir grown in Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, and in the typical style of Gosset champagnes, it does not undergo malolactic fermentation, allowing it to retain a brightness of acidity. It is aged for nine years.
Golden yellow in colour, it is described as ‘perfectly balanced between intense aromas and finesse with the fruitiness of the Pinot Noir expressing itself with surprising lightness’.
White stone fruits and patisserie on the nose are followed by honey and beeswax on the palate, with a lively, salty finish. With a low dosage of 5g per litre, it makes an ideal food cuvée.
‘I am proud of this limited-edition cuvée, which expresses the finesse and elegance of Pinot Noir, used in our other Gosset wines,’ said Gosset cellarmaster, Odilon de Varine. ‘We are delighted to share this unique wine with all our fellow champagne connoisseurs, followers and friends.’
The Blanc de Blanc’s makeover sees the wine switching to a clear bottle, and pays tribute to the late Suzanne Gosset, who pioneered the use of clear bottles for champagne.
