Harry Brompton's launches Crowdcube bid

Alcoholic iced tea brand Harry Brompton's has launched a bid to raise £300,000 through crowdfunding to help make it a 'world leading brand' and launch a new drinks category.

Parent company Tudor Drinks first launched the product – which is billed as the world’s first premium alcoholic tea – in 2013, brewing it in small batches on their kitchen table. It has now sold nearly a million bottles across 11 markets.

The product is made with Kenyan black teas from the Great Rift Valley, vodka and an infusion of 'natural flavours'.

Tudor Drinks – headed by former broker Ian O’Donohue and entrepreneur Martin O’Donohue – says it needs cash to help seed the new drinks category and make the brand a household name. It is also set to launch a non-alcoholic ice tea range, with new flavours, black tea with peach, black tea with lemon and lime, and black tea with lemon and ginger.

The company has 25 days to raise the funds through crowdfunding platform Crowdcube, in exchange for 10.71% equity in the business. The cash will be used for sales and marketing activities, retaining key personnel, funding larger production runs, and further new product development.
