Set yourself up for a weekend of bubbles on ice, as this Saturday will see the second edition of Moët & Chandon’s global Party Day.
Celebrated in over 70 countries around the world, with 40 events planned in the UK, the focus this year will be on Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial, the world's first champagne served over ice. The new demi-sec cuvée's perfect serve is over three cubes of ice.
Taking place on 11 June last year, the inaugural Moët Party Day saw bars and restaurants around the UK stage celebrations, and this year even more establishments are joining in. 'Moët & Chandon has a history of celebration and innovation, and we are combining the two by focusing on Ice in our own Moët Party Day activities,' said Julie Nollet, marketing and communication director at Moët Hennessy UK.
'Ice Impérial offers consumers a new way to enjoy champagne over the summer months and it is great to see so many on-trade accounts across the country celebrating this global event with us.'
Bars and restaurants including The Social in Glasgow, Manchester’s Australasia Bar, Sky Garden, Galvin Hop, Madison and the Edgbaston in Birmingham are all on the list of participants, with the Edward Lounge Bar at Radisson Blu Edwardian in London offering an afternoon tea with a Moët Ice twist.
On top of the 40 UK-wide events, London will also see the first ever Moët Ice Truck installed at Bluebird in Chelsea, serving Ice from brunch to evening BBQ.
Created by Chef de Cave Benoît Gouez in 2011, Ice Impérial is dominated by Pinot Noir and Meunier, giving the champagne a richness that the ice is said to amplify.
'Around 20-30% of the assemblage is of selected reserve wines to round out the blend by enhancing its intensity, richness and consistency,' adds Gouez.
