What to see at Imbibe Live 2016

Imbibe Editorial

22 June 2016

It's just over a week until the biggest date in the trade's diary, so it's time to get planning. First, make sure to register for your ticket, then take a look at the programme to pick which sessions to make time for and whose talks to attend.

Not sure where to start? We've picked some sessions that we think are unmissable to give you some inspiration... See you there!

Monday 4 July

The Nuts & Bolts of Craft Cider
11.45am (Beer & Cider Hub)
With a decade of experience in the cider industry, Gabe Cook kicks off proceedings at the Beer & Cider Hub by revealing the latest and greatest developments in the world of fermented apples. Cook will be rolling up his sleeves to reveal The Nuts & Bolts of Craft Cider.

In The Jungle
12pm (Cocktail Lounge)
You might already be able to draw some comparisons between the Amazonian jungle and a Saturday night shift at your bar, but Imbibe Live spirits ambassador Alex Kratena actually visited the jungle recently, and has some insights that you might find useful.

Bartenders v Sommeliers: The Final in association with Bibendum and Cellar Trends
3.30pm (Centre Stage)
It's a competition that needs no more introductions. Now in its eighth year, Bartenders v Sommeliers returns to see both sides of the trade make a claim for the slightly battered, but no less prestigious trophy. Catch up on this year's training sessions ahead of the show.

Orange is the new wine
1.30pm-5.30pm (Taste Zone)
Join Imbibe Live wine ambassador Laure Patry as she delves into the world of orange wine along with Frédéric Grappe from Dynamic Wines, who distributes Stanko Radikon's well-known wines, amongst others.

Tuesday 5 July

Mr Lyan on Sustainability
1pm (Cocktail Lounge)
With more and more bars taking an interest in reducing their waste and creating sustainable businesses, Ryan Chetiyawardana's talk will be a must see for anyone questioning how to reduce their impact on the planet, while improving profits too.

Mature Then Pour
1.15pm (Beer & Cider Hub)
Ageing isn't just the privilege of the wine and whisky worlds. There's plenty to be gained from maturing beer, whether it's in bottle or barrels, and Fuller's John Keeling will be sharing tips, as well as his favourites.

The Next Pinot Grigio
2pm - 5pm (Sommelier Wine Awards)
Which grape will take over from the ubiquitous Pinot Grigio as the next breakthrough variety? It'll need to be accessible and affordable, not to mention pronounceable. Join a sommelier tasting panel in their search for the next PG.

Bittersweet Symphony
3.30pm (Taste Zone)
If there's a man who knows his botanicals, it's former Martini global ambassador Giuseppe Gallo. Dive into the amaro deep end with him for a detailed look at this fascinating category, with a particular focus on local ingredients.

Imbibe Live takes place at Kensington Olympia on 4 and 5 July.
