If there is any spirit that can cheer us up this mild summer, it's rum. And with that, Mangrove has launched Jamaica Inn Black Ginger Rum to our tiki-loving nation.

A blend of Jamaican pot and column stills, the 40% abv rum is infused with ginger, delivering subtle hints of lemongrass and citrus.
Aged for three years, the guys at Mangrove recommend the rum in a Jamaica Mule, a pimped-out Moscow Mule with punchy notes of ginger. It also works beautifully with cola and tonic.
Inspired by the Cornwall coaching inn built in 1750 and made famous in Daphne du Maurier’s novel of the same name, the brand Jamaica Inn first derived its name from the local landowning Trelawney family.
The coaching inn originally provided a watering hole to hide smugglers' plundered Caribbean contraband of Jamaican rum and botanicals, including ginger. Jamaica Inn Black Ginger Rum pays homage to the style of rum the local punters would have consumed.
'More than anything else, this is an authentic Jamaican, flavoured rum of quality and commercial viability that fits with Mangrove’s ethos,' said Nick Gillett, managing director of Mangrove.
'Jamaica Inn is a brand which we are focusing on building at the forefront of our Mangrove rum portfolio that we will drive into the growing premium rum market.
'It has that unique Jamaican ‘funk’ flavour with the presence of a well-balanced quality, ginger flavour throughout.'
