On-trade focused distributor Jascots Wine Merchants has turned to home-delivery and wholesale to survive the coronavirus crisis.

According to Jascots, sales suddenly dropped to zero over the course of last week, which culminated on Friday, with the prime minister announcing that all pubs, bars and restaurants had to close their doors.

'As an on-trade specialist [99.8%] of our work is in this sector and clearly our team face the same extreme concerns,' said managing partner Miles MacInnes.

The decision to look at home-deliveries and wholesales was then needed in order for the business to live through the crisis. Jascots said that they 'turned home-delivery wine merchant overnight and won 45 orders to deliver the next day'. Despite the positive outcome, the merchant highlighted that these sales can only provide a 'small proportion of Jascot's usual work and so they want to appeal to any retailers or wholesalers that are overwhelmed or short on stock'.
