Colombian rum brand La Hechicera has launched Serie Experimental No. 2, a new rum infused with banana
The second iteration within the brand’s Experimental range of limited-edition spirits, Serie Experimental No. 2 is a blend of rums aged between 12 and 21 years in American white oak barrels and infused with sun-dried, organic banana peel of the Gros Michel variety cultivated in the Tolima area of the country.
The company says that the new rum is ‘an ode to the three generations of the Riascos family’, which were originally trading bananas before they took on rum production.
‘The addition of our Serie Experimental range of rums allows us to continue to share our story with our customers and consumers in a special way,’ said La Hechicera managing director and co-founder, Miguel Riascos.’
Serie Experimental No. 2 is said to show aromas of toffee, tropical forest leaves, overripe banana, vanilla and dried fruit with ‘subtle smoky undertones’.The palate is described as being ‘unctuous’, with allspice, orange confit, salted caramel and marzipan flavours.
