This year's Spirited Awards were announced on Saturday, with London dominating the international categories.
Artesian, last year's World's Best Cocktail Bar, handed its title to New York's Dead Rabbit, but took the title of Best International Cocktail Bar. It was a good night for Ryan Chetiyawardana, who was not only named International Bartender of the Year, but took Best New International Cocktail Bar for Dandelyan. Dead Rabbit also took the prize for World's Best Cocktail Menu.
Other London bars recognised at the awards were the Beaufort Bar, winner of Best International Hotel Bar, and Blind Pig at Social Eating House, Best International Restaurant Bar.
In addition, Jonathan Downey was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
28 Hong Kong Street in Singapore was given the award of Best International Bar Team, while the Best International Brand Ambassador was Claire Smith-Warner of Belvedere Vodka. The Best International High Volume Cocktail Bar was The Black Pearl & The Attic in Melbourne.
'It’s wonderful to see traditional strongholds like London and Melbourne sharing nominations with the resurgent bar scene in Paris, and to see the rise of great bars in places like Singapore and Dubai being recognized too,' said Jacob Briars, international judging committee chairman.
Over in the American categories, Employees Only took two awards, Best American Bar Team and Best American High Volume Cocktail Bar. Best New American Cocktail Bar went to ABV in San Francisco.
