Cellar Trends has announced a new addition to the Luxardo range of distinctive cherry products in the form of Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin, launching in the UK later this summer.

The deep red liquid is made using Luxardo London Dry Gin, a product not currently available in the UK, and sour cherry juice. It is said to marry gin’s classic juniper notes with an intense Marasca cherry aroma, bright cherry flavour and sour cherry finish.

Cherry Martinez

Glass: Martini
Garnish: Maraschino cherry
Method: Shake over ice and strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with the cherry.

 45ml Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin
30ml sweet vermouth
5ml Luxardo Maraschino
2 dashes of bitters

The Cellar Trends portfolio already includes Luxardo’s classic Maraschino, Sangue Morlacco cherry liqueur and Marasca cocktail cherries.

The brand is touting Luxardo Sour Cherry Gin for use in both alternative gin and tonics and in a signature serve called the Cherry Martinez, a twist on the classic Martinez cocktail.

In the upcoming months, Cellar Trends will be hosting masterclasses to allow bartenders to experience the flavoured gin’s range of uses. The distributor is also aiming to educate the trade on Luxardo’s Marasca orchards in Italy, where the sour cherry variety is cultivated exclusively by the liqueur company.
