MASH unveils latest cocktail list

22 September 2017

Soho’s MASH launched its latest collection of cocktails this week, drawing inspiration from the 30s and 40s.

The bar at the London outpost of the Danish steak restaurant is not only known for its American whiskey collection, but for its inventive cocktails, sometimes served in unusual vessels. This latest list is no exception when it comes to inventiveness, although there’s maybe more use of conventional glassware than before. Not counting the one drink served in a chocolate-covered ice cream cone...

The drinks are varied in style, from the G&T-meets-Gimlet entitled Gintinity, all the way to dessert-replacement Labour Cut, pairing Buffalo Trace with Noix de la Saint Jean, Martini Rubino, brown butter washed cane syrup, Abbots Bitters and coffee liqueur. The right choice after an American-size steak in the restaurant.

Costs a Nickel was another highlight, a seemingly unlikely combination of Cold and Blac Coffee Liqueur, Bombay Sapphire, Jack Rudy Elderflower Tonic, lime juice, chocolate bitters and Fever Tree Madagascan Cola, served in a beer can shaped glass.

The team created about 30 drinks for the menu, which were then whittled down to the final 16 on the list.

The menu also places an emphasis on bar snacks, some of which are exclusive to the bar, and not duplicated on the restaurant menu. The selection of bar food includes a meat sharing platter, a MASH burger, and blue-cheese Mac and Cheese.
