McKinley Vintners and New Generation Wines merge

19 November 2015

UK wine businesses McKinley Vintners and New Generation Wines have agreed to merge their businesses from 1 January 2016.

The new company, with its combined wine and spirits portfolio, will be primarily focused on London on-trade and on the independent fine wine sector. It will  have a sales and marketing office in London, as well as an administration team in Ashford. Peter McKinley will remain in an active role, with New Generation's James Booth taking on the mantle of managing director for the combined business. McKinley MD Jim Furze will be the new company's operations director.

New Generation Wines was started by Booth in 2006. Peter and Di McKinley founded their company in 1986, and until now have retained full ownership of the company.

Booth commented: 'This is a hugely positive and exciting step which demonstrates the commitment of both New Generation Wines and McKinley Vintners to the future of their combined customers, suppliers and colleagues.'

McKinley added: 'New Generation McKinley – I cannot think of a better way to carry on the hard work done by the MVL [McKinley Vintners Ltd] team than by joining forces with such enthusiastic and energetic business partners.'

There will be no change to the existing companies until the new year, when more details about the merger are expected to be revealed.
