As the mercury swings unseasonably high, many wine drinkers' thoughts will inevitably be turning to rosé – and, as if it's read their thoughts, Provençal producer Mirabeau has just launched an on-trade-only variant called Azure.

Adding to its collection, which includes three other still wines (Pure, Classic and Etoile) and sparkling wine (La Folie), Azure is a combination of Syrah (49%), Grenache (42%) and Cinsault (9%), grown on clay and limestone soil.

British owners Jeany and Stephen Cronk have partnered with Bibendum to sell Azure, which is its first wine made exclusively for the on-trade.

'Provence rosé is going from strength to strength, showing strong, sustained growth at all price points with much of the success being driven by leading brands like Mirabeau,' said Simon Jerrome, head of wine buying at Bibendum.

'We’re passionate about bringing new and interesting wines to our customers. Stephen and Jeany have captured the style and expression of Provence brilliantly - their wines are a great fit for our on-trade customers and I am particularly excited to be introducing their first on-trade only cuvée, Azure, to Bibendum customers.'
