It appears to be a year of name changes for Edrington-Beam Suntory (EBS) – its merry band of on-trade ambassadors, formerly known as Mixxit, has just been renamed The Whisky Specialists.

With a portfolio heavy on whisky, EBS – formerly known as Maxxium – has decided to formalise the company’s focus in its name change.

‘We’re incredibly lucky to have an unrivalled whisky portfolio and our training is increasingly focused in this area, so the rebrand to The Whisky Specialists is something of an evolution and cements our position in the market as the go-to whisky portfolio for bartenders,’ David Miles, senior whisky specialist for London, told Imbibe.

‘This goes hand in hand with an increased demand from the on-trade for this kind of whisky specialist training – it’s no longer just cocktail training, but a far richer level of specialism across the trade.’

The role of the team apparently isn’t changing much – they’ll still be out and about conducting trainings. ‘We’re not reinventing the wheel, merely honing it,’ explained Miles. ‘[We’d like to] invite people to get in touch with their whisky training needs. We’ve colleagues across the country who are raring to go.’
