Bars and drinks brands are being encouraged to take part to deliver drinks to people's homes and keep cocktail culture alive in Glasgow during and after the coronavirus lockdown
Founding members of the Glasgow Cocktail Collection (GCC) include bars Vodka Wodka, Blue Dog, Kelvingrove Café, Redmonds and Phillies of Shawlands.
'Our aim is to keep Glasgow's cocktail culture alive during lockdown and at the same time provide an income stream for bars which have been devastated by the [covid]-19 lockdown,' explained Fraser McIlwraith, founder of Dark Art Drinks, the company which will be bottling batches of each participating bar's two best-selling cocktails.
Drinks will be delivered chilled to customers' door, complete with ice and garnish. 'The whole process is contactless with cocktail lovers able to order via our website and app, and the best part is you can mix and match between any bar and they will be delivered at the same time on the same day,' continued McIlwraith. GCC also hopes to support all of the trade with the new initiative, buying all stock from local sources and wholesalers, meaning 'any money is distributed back to local businesses and families'.
McIlwraith also sees GCC continuing once bars and restaurants reopen in order to make up some of the loss of income venues will inevitably face.
Brands can also take part in, by collaborating on weekly sponsored cocktails, the profits of which will go towards the Scottish Licensed Trade Benevolent Society.
