Nicholson Gin makes a comeback

28 June 2017

There have been some great revivals in recent years: Steps, Blind Date and the Labour Party, to name but a few.

Next month, Nicholson Gin – one of the oldest gin brands – can be added to that distinguished list.

To refresh the memory, Nicholson Gin was originally established in 1736. Its comeback is courtesy of cousins and direct descendants of the original founders, Nicholas Browne and Tim Walker.

Today, Nicholson Original is a super-premium London dry gin true to the original family recipe. Ten botanicals make up the gin, including coriander, angelica root, citrus peels, cinnamon, orris root, cassia Bark, nutmeg and liquorice.

The palate is said to be juniper-led with citrus notes and a touch of spice, culminating in a long, dry and balanced finish.

The revival of the Nicholson brand brings the distillation process home to London. Inspiration for the bottle and label design was found in the company's archives.
