Created by Bureau de la Région Occitanie in London, the new channel consists of 11 free videos. Your host for these is Matthew Stubbs MW, a leading expert on this region. Coming in at between five and 10 minutes, each instalment is snappy and packed with facts – perfect as an introduction to this fascinating region, or as a refresher if you’re already familiar with Occitanie.

Stubbs covers everything from soil and climate, as well as history of each appellation, concluding each video with a tasting of some representative wines, complete with supplier info if you’d like to join in.

‘The Region of Occitanie combines the vineyards of Languedoc-Roussillon, most of the South West and a small section of the south-west Rhone valley and is the largest and fastest selling French wine region in the UK,’ said Isabelle Kanaan, executive director for Bureau de la Région Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée. ‘It is a must-have of any restaurant or wine shop as it offers value for money that is one of the best in the world and hard to beat.’

Stubbs, who set up his own wine school near Carcassonne, added: ‘Occitanie is like the wine world condensed into one region. Within a two-hour drive you will find every style of wine in one place from a multitude of terroirs, grape varieties and over 20,000 individual growers and producers. It is a never-ending source of fascination, interest and excitement and it was an absolute pleasure to present a personal insight into some of the major areas in this region.’
