Have you got what it takes to be a global cocktail champion?

Chivas Regal is on the hunt for the UK’s most skilled and imaginative bartenders to enter the Chivas Masters 2018 competition. The luxury whisky brand is inviting bartenders to create an original cocktail recipe inspired by the theme of community. Up for grabs is an all-expenses-paid trip to Tales of the Cocktail 2018 and the chance to travel the world with Chivas to inspire the bartenders of the future.

The Chivas Masters is a global competition that celebrates bartenders with talent and creativity, who share Chivas Regal’s core values of community, collaboration and generosity. Launching in 22 countries across six different continents, the competition is looking for 22 national finalists who will go head-to-head to represent their countries in the Global Final in June.

The competitors will have to take part in a series of masterclasses and challenges over the course of six days, to win the title of Chivas Masters Global Champion 2018.

Coming home

For the first time ever, this year’s Global Final will be held in the UK, with finalists visiting London and the spiritual home of Chivas Regal: the Strathisla Distillery in Speyside. Since its launch in 1909, Chivas Regal has become known around the world and today sells 4.5m nine-litre cases annually in over 150 countries.

Considered to be the world’s first luxury whisky, the Chivas Regal range includes: Chivas Regal 12, Chivas Regal 18, Chivas Regal 25, Chivas Regal Extra, Chivas Regal Mizunara, Chivas Regal Ultis blended malt and the ultra-prestige blend Chivas Regal The Icon.

Building on the phenomenal success of the brand, Chivas Regal has been keen to support the bartending community that’s played such a big part in its growth. So in 2014 it launched the Win the Right Way campaign, which aims to inspire a new generation whilst making a positive impact on the lives of others.

‘At Chivas Regal, we believe that generosity and success go hand-in-hand,’ says former Chivas Regal global brand ambassador Max Warner. ‘These are the values that have influenced the Chivas Masters right from the start, and the reason why in 2018 we are beyond excited to bring the Global Final home to where our brand, values and indeed our own community were born.’

Rise to the challenge

The Chivas Masters offers bartenders a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to develop their own skills while learning from their peers and a global community of industry experts – including previous winners of the competition, such as Josh Reynolds from Hawksmoor Spitalfields in London. Reynolds was crowned the Chivas Master Global Champion in 2015.

‘Previous winners have seen the huge benefit not just at a local level but as part of their overall profile development globally,’ says Magin Trewhella, head of marketing at Pernod Ricard UK, which owns Chivas Regal. ‘Josh is a great example. Since swiping the title, he’s had the chance to travel the world by supporting Chivas events in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore.’

How to enter

Applications are now open for UK entrants, so if you think you’ve got what it takes to become the Chivas Masters Global Champion 2018, visit The Chivas Academy to find out more about the comp and how to enter.

The deadline for entries is 14 April and please note that entrants must be available to attend both the UK Final on 3 May 2018 and the Global Final on 24-29 June.

‘We’re delighted to be launching this great competition once again and urge bartenders to get involved and submit their entry,’ says Trewhella. So what are you waiting for?
