Top-level bartenders are thirsty – for great drinks, yes, but even more, for drinks knowledge. That’s why fruit purée and mixer brand Funkin Cocktails has once again partnered with London cocktail hub Crucible to host Funkin Innovation Labs, a training programme designed to educate and inspire bartenders throughout the UK.
At the helm of this year’s Innovation Labs are Rosey Mitchell of award winning London bar Three Sheets, kegged cocktail expert Romeo de Wit and Crucible founder Stu Bale.

The three bartenders will lead sessions that build on last year’s programme, focusing on balancing acidity and sugar levels in serves. Each seminar will blend hands-on lessons with insights into trends and techniques, all using Funkin-inspired cocktails.
‘Last year’s Funkin Innovation Labs were most enjoyable and it’s great to be asked back again,’ said Bale.
‘This year I’ve captured who I consider to be two of the most exciting folk around just now. They have taken last year’s content and run with it and I’m really looking forward to watching them blast faces off.’
With the knowledge gained through the Innovation Labs, bartenders can enter the Funkin Innovation Champion 2019 competition, kicking off later this year – and to help foster a competitive spirit, each participant will take home a free copy of The Cocktail Competition Handbook by BarLifeUK's Andy Ives.
