A hospitality recruitment app that promises to match potential employees with hospitality venues, has beat its crowdfunding target to help fund future national expansion.
The team behind Placed App had hoped to raise £85,000 to help attract jobseekers and scale the app for national use. However as of today, it has raised almost £133,000 from 47 investors.
The app, which launched in July this year, has 131 London-centric venues signed up to its service, including Polpo, Purl, Barrafina, The Zetter Group and Grain Store.
Launched by Jennifer Johansson and Natalie Chasaay, the service aims to address the issue of the high turnover of hospitality staff in junior to mid-level positions.
According to the founder's pitch: 'Our research shows that there are no online platforms that offer immediate matching of candidates to venues; the process is entirely manual. Sorting through hundreds of CV's is a hugely laborious task with many being outdated, poorly written and with no uniformed formatting. Using agencies to find staff is far too costly considering the position and churn of the employees in question.'
The app works by matching suitable candidates to venues, includes interview scheduling, direct messaging, rating systems and short lists, and doesn’t use CV's. Instead candidates create profiles that include previous positions as well as personality information, education and a profile picture.
The funds raised will go towards marketing including digital and online, PR and brand awareness, advertisement and SEO, alongside tech development, and back office expansion.
