Though UK punters have always enjoyed a good pint, beer and food pairings have been slower on the uptake. But recently, a number of restaurants have set out to change that perception, launching their own beers developed with food matching in mind.
Dubbed Rosa’s Thai PA, the 4.6% abv beer is infused with lemongrass and lime sourced from Thailand. This results in a crisp, light palate with citrusy notes that are meant to pair with Rosa’s Thai cuisine - particularly its curries, stir fries and soups.
‘As a team we love Thai food and had been thinking about creating a Thai-inspired beer concept, so when we received an approach from Rosa's we jumped at the chance to collaborate with them,’ explained Mad Cat managing director Peter Meany.
‘They have been tremendously supportive, offering us feedback on flavour profiles and giving us the opportunity to test run our beer in their Bluewater restaurant. The beer will appeal to a wide range of consumers enjoying and complementing the fantastic range of foods offered by Rosa's.’
The new beer will roll out across Rosa’s sites in London, Liverpool and Leeds from 1 October, priced at £4.50/33cl bottle.
