The juicy coverage of Harry and Meghan’s wedding is slowly dying down – we know you’re absolutely crushed – but the celebration of all things monarchic lives on with the release of Royal Salute’s new whisky.

The brand was created in 1953 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, and in keeping with its regal origins, the brand is releasing a new expression meant to embody the iconic Kew Palace.

Royal Salute 28 Year Old Kew Palace edition is a collaboration between Sandy Hyslop, the company’s director of blending, and perfumer Barnabé Fillion. The pair worked together to create a blended Scotch whisky inspired by the palace’s kitchen garden.

How does this translate to the liquid? According to the brand, Hyslop and Fillion built on Royal Salute’s classic round flavour with fruity notes and floral aromas like violet to bring to mind the royal palace. Ripe pear and autumnal leaves on the nose lead to a honeyed taste and a sweet, slightly smoky finish.

The release is the latest in Royal Salute’s annual Flask collection, and comes in a set with a green porcelain flagon, flask, pouring funnel and wooden serving tray. The packaging is emblazoned with illustrations of Kew Palace by British artist Jason Brooks.

40% abv, RRP $790/70cl (approx £597),
