Soho’s The Blue Posts to reopen as pub, restaurant and cocktail bar

14 November 2017

The team behind Soho restaurant The Palomar is set to reopen historic pub The Blue Posts in December.

The new site, set over three floors, will include a high-ceilinged pub, a small basement restaurant with counter dining, and a cocktail bar on the first floor. The former beer cellar in the basement, now entitled Evelyn’s Table, will be an informal space seating only 11 guests. The cocktail bar, The Mulwray, meanwhile, will be ‘richly decorated’, and have a wood-burning stove.

The plan is for the beer, wine and spirits selection to be sourced from independent producers, while head chef Nacho Pinilla will be responsible for a bar menu for the pub and cocktail bar, in addition to a daily changing menu for the basement restaurant. Pinilla is executive chef of The Barbary in Covent Garden, another restaurant from the team behind The Palomar – siblings Layo and Zoe Paskin. The group of London sites also includes coffee shop Jacob The Angel.

The site of The Blue Posts, on Rupert Street, is said to have been a public house since at least 1739. It closed its doors a year ago, but is now expected to open again on 5 December.

Architect David Archer of Archer Humphryes has worked with the team to create the new venue.
