British TV personality Spencer Matthews has joined the no- and low-alcohol craze with the launch of The Clean Liquor Company. The company’s flagship product is 1.2% abv CleanGin. The ‘ultra low-alcohol replacement to gin’ contains two calories per 25ml serving.

Botanicals in CleanGin include juniper, orris root, ground cardamom, coriander seeds, angelica root, lemon zest, peppermint oil, ginger oil and cinnamon. On the nose, the drink promises petrichor and pine needles, while on the palate, drinkers can expect ‘suggestions of peppermint and silver birch sap’.

'Sobriety is a lifestyle choice I made a few months before becoming a dad,' said Matthews. 'I quickly realised that the drink choices for the sober curious were limited, mainly made of sugary and unhealthy options. So, I worked with a great team to build a premium nolo brand and flagship product that offers a new option for people.'

Matthews said that by including 1.2% abv, the team was able to 'capture all the character and taste of a great London dry gin, so people can enjoy the occasion without any of the negative effects that go with alcohol'.

1.2% abv, RRP £24.99/70cl, cleanliquor.com
