You thought Tom Nichol was going to make a quiet exit from his role as Tanqueray master distiller? Not quite – recently retired Nichol left with one last trick up his sleeve: a new expression called Bloomsbury.
It's inspired by a recipe by Charles Waugh Tanqueray, the second Tanqueray to head the family business. Clocking in at 47.37% abv, it's made using Tuscan juniper, angelica root, coriander seeds, cassia bark and winter savoury. Its name is a nod to the old location of the Tanqueray distillery in Bloosmbury.
Tom Nichol said: 'I wanted to make something that was completely different from our other limited editions and with this gin I do feel we have achieved that. It is very inspirational to work with an original Tanqueray family recipe, and for it to taste this good.'
Bloomsbury hits shelves this month, and there's only 7,000 bottles available in the UK, so get in there quick...
