The head and senior bartenders at The Savoy's The American and Beaufort Bars respectively have launched The Booze Brain, a series of online programmes aimed at helping the bartending and drinks community through the current coronavirus crisis.
Announcing the decision on Friday 19 March on Instagram, Schulte called for the help of brand ambassadors and representatives with an overwhelming reaction and today (Monday 23 March) marks the first day of the new The Booze Brain series.
‘The initial idea was really just to create a universal platform for many people to use for all people across brands and communities,’ Schulte told Imbibe. ‘It’s about bringing people together… This time calls for a new form of socialising and we just thought we wanted to help with that.
‘We have people across brands and bars, with amazing topics so far. It is not just about booze, it’s about how to stay sane while at home, supporting each other and maybe learning new techniques.’
Schulte and Jo Last (senior bartender at The Savoy’s Beaufort Bar) will introduce the new series at 3pm on Facebook. Then, they will hand over to guests speakers. This week will see Sim Edwards (global brand ambassador for Beefeater) discuss how to keep fit and healthy at home; Seedlip and Aecorn’s Claire Warner will be chatting no-abv drink and how too much booze during self-isolation can have serious impacts; and John Wayte, Monkey Shoulder brand ambassador) will be sharing his knowledge of using social media for business.
Each week that follows will feature four sessions, with all being live-streamed from the official Facebook page, which you can access here.
