Fireworks marked the victory of Artesian Bar's Giulia Cuccurullo as she was announced as the 2020 winner of the global Patrón Perfectionists competition in Mexico, last night.
Having taken the UK heats back in September, battling it out against seven other national finalists, Cuccurullo travelled to Hacienda Patrón earlier this month to take part in the global final against 21 finalists from 30 different countries.
Described as a 'passionate storyteller', Cuccurullo won with her cocktail The Bridge, combining Patrón Silver Tequila, rhubarb cordial, fortified wine, tomato water and salt solution, served in a highball glass over ice, and garnished with tomato and rhubarb.
'This entire competition has been a journey I will never forget,' said Cuccurullo after her win. 'I feel honoured to be chosen as the Global Winner with a cocktail that brings together my home away from home, the UK, my origin, Italy, and Mexico, the birthplace of Patrón. My cocktail, The Bridge, represents personal stories and bonds and I cannot wait to continue building connections with the help of Patrón Tequila.
Other finalists were Tobias Linder of Jigger & Spoon, Germany, Switzerland and Austria; Jared Schmidt of Orchard Room, Canada; Jason Hussien Ali of Grand Hyatt Manila, Singapore, Philippines and Indonesia; Sarah Turbett of Oak Standby, New Orleans, USA; Willy Park of Alice Cheongdam, Japan and South Korea; and Anneliese Grazioli of Hot Tamale, Australia and New Zealand.
