Bodega Garzón showcased five new wines to the trade at Imbibe Live. The Uruguayan producer, which first appeared in the UK market two years ago, has extended its range in order to give the UK trade an increased selection of entry points to the Uruguayan wine category.

The new wines are part of an extensive range review, which sees the Bodega Garzón portfolio increase to three tiers with the addition of a Reserve and a Single Vineyard range, alongside the original Estate tier.

The new products include the top-end Garzón Pinot Noir Single Vineyard 2015 from the Single Vineyard range, and Garzón Albariño Reserve 2016 and Tannat Reserve 2015 from the Reserve selection. At the entry level Garzón Pinot Noir Rosé Estate 2017 and Garzón Cabernet Franc/Tannat Estate 2016 join a new vintage release of Garzón Viognier Estate 2016.

‘We first introduced the Bodega Garzón range to the UK wine market in early 2015 at a time when Uruguay was still emerging as a wine producing region,’ said Bodega Garzón’s consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini.

‘At Bodega Garzón, we have such unique soils, microclimates, and aspects and it is without a doubt one of the most perfect vineyard sites I have ever seen. I remember the first time I saw it and it blew my mind,’ he added.

‘People thought we were mad to plant such a large area, but we analysed the soils and found such great depths of minerality that we knew we could succeed.  Slowly but surely Uruguay is making traction in the UK market and we are looking forward to helping it grow with our new wines and ranges,’ said Antonini.

Bodega Garzón wines are available from Bibendum.
