Earlier in the year, Texan distillery Balcones teamed up with Imbibe to challenge bartenders to create a cocktail using their Balcones Baby Blue corn whisky, and we're now happy to share the video of the competition's highlights.

As revealed in the latest issue of Imbibe magazine, the lucky eight bartenders to make the cut faced off in a closely fought final. Maria Viera of East London Liquor Company eventually triumphed with her drink The Peaceful People, a thoughtful serve inspired by the native American Hopi tribe, which combined Balcones Baby Blue with a toasted pecan butter syrup, fresh lemon juice, mezcal and Miracle Mile Polite as Fuck bitters. Be at One Bristol's Dan Bovey took second place, while Black Rock's Amardeep Grewal came third.

Viera has won a trip to Texas. 'I'm really excited and happy,' she said on the day. 'It was satisfying to see all my research pay off. I'm so excited to be going back to Texas, and I really can't wait to see the distillery.'
