Vincent Chaperon named new chef de cave for Dom Pérignon

From the beginning of next year, Vincent Chaperon will take over from Richard Geoffroy as chef de cave for Dom Pérignon.

The trained oenologist joined Moët & Chandon in 1999, becoming assistant winemaker in 2000.  He’s worked closely with Geoffroy since 2005, taking part in 13 harvests and declaring four vintages with him.

Geoffroy, who’s held the position for 28 years, has declared no less than 15 vintages.

‘Faithful to the vision of Dom Pérignon, [Geoffroy] has always opted to fully explore its potential by constantly seeking to push the fruit to its optimum maturity, allowing him to honour Dom Pérignon’s commitment to “always a vintage wine”,’ said the champagne house.

‘Geoffroy’s interpretation of the Dom Pérignon vision led to the ‘Plenitudes’ concept – current vintage, P2 and P3 and their vocation to express the successive plateaux of a Dom Pérignon Champagne as it matures.’

As chef de cave of Dom Pérignon, Geoffroy worked on partnerships with luminaries from the culinary world, such as Ferran Adrià and Alain Ducasse, as well as filmmaker David Lynch, Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, artist Jeff Koons and, most recently, musician Lenny Kravitz.

It's been a busy few days of job moves at the LVMH-owned company, with Glenmorangie CEO Marc Hoellinger being named international director of both Moët & Chandon and Dom Pérignon. His current role will be taken up from 15 August by Hennessy's international marketing director Thomas Moradpour.
