Win a trip to Iceland with The Reyka Expedition Competition 2019

Reyka Vodka asks UK bartenders to create a cocktail by exploring their own definition of ‘adventure’

Nocturnal auroras, colossal glaciers and eight million puffins – Iceland is undoubtedly a very special place. It’s also home to a very special vodka, and what better way to celebrate that than by entering this year’s Reyka Expedition cocktail competition?

Inspiration for the competition came from Reyka Vodka’s brand ambassador Fabiano ‘Fabs’ Latham, who cycled 1000km from Aberdeen to London last year to discover the UK’s most adventurous bartenders.

‘People often daydream about doing something exciting and new, yet find it hard to break out of their daily routine,’ says Latham. ‘This year’s competition will give bartenders that chance, to seek out exciting new experiences within nature, fostering creativity which will be essential to win the trip to Iceland.’

How to enter

All you have to do enter The Reyka Expedition Competition is create a Reyka cocktail inspired by your interpretation of ‘adventure’, take a photograph of your cocktail in a natural setting and write a short paragraph on the drink’s inspiration (200 words maximum). Then, send your recipe, drink photo and paragraph along with your name, bar and t-shirt size to expedition@reyka.com.

Twenty-four bartenders will be selected from the entries within four UK regions (Scotland, the North, Midlands/South-West and London). Six bartenders from each region will then be formed into a team and sent on an outdoor experience in the Lake District on 8 and 9 July.

This excursion will culminate in a mystery box competition and a Mac and Wild Viking-style outdoor feast, with the winning team going on a trip of a lifetime to Iceland in August.

‘The Reyka Expedition is an adventure like no other,’ says 2018 heat winner, Elysa McGuire. ‘From exploring Reykjavik’s unique bar scene to walking under waterfalls and up the sides of volcanos, you will literally pinch yourself to check you’re really there.’

Entries run from 1-24 June and entrants will be notified if they have made it to the second stage by 28 June. Good luck!

A bit of background

Fabiano Latham is the man behind ‘adventurivity’ (adventure + creativity), a mindset that combines harnessing an adventurous mind and seeking new experiences within nature with increased creativity, positivity and confidence. This competition will be a case study of that mindset – placing bartenders in natural settings, taking part in activities and culminating in a competition that tests the limits of participants’ creativity.
