Redcomb was founded in 2010 by managing directors Dan Shotton and Mark Draper (pictured) and reported a turnover of £16.7m for the year ending 30 June 2018.
The deal gives Young’s ownership of Redcomb’s 15 venues – six freeholds and nine leaseholds – across London and the south-west. This includes the Islington bar Alphabet, which relaunched in September with cocktail offerings from the Salts of the Earth consultancy.
‘[Redcomb’s] pubs will complement the Young’s managed house estate both in and around London, build upon a growing presence in the south-west and further enhance the Young’s brand,’ Young’s commented.
‘Each of the pubs has a premium offering and distinctive personality that differentiates it in its local market.’
Young’s stated that it will be investing in Redcomb’s venues over the next two years, and predicts a short-term impact on profitability as a result.
Combined with the 70 tenanted pubs in Young’s Ram Pub Company, the purchase of Redcomb brings Young’s estate up to a total of 270 venues.
